Indian Hotels Company Ltd. (IHCL) has signed a framework agreement to develop seven new Ginger hotels across North India, strengthening its presence in the fast-growing midscale hospitality segment. The proposed expansion will add more than 1,000 rooms to the Ginger portfolio.
The agreement, signed with Rajdarbar Group, will see Ginger hotels come up across a mix of metro-adjacent markets, Tier-2 cities, industrial hubs, and religious destinations. The new properties are planned in Jaipur, Agra, Mathura, Vrindavan, Hisar, and Karnal, and will be developed through a combination of greenfield and brownfield projects under fully fitted lease arrangements.
Commenting on the development, Suma Venkatesh, Executive Vice President – Real Estate & Development at IHCL, said the midscale hotel segment continues to benefit from India’s economic momentum and the rise of aspirational travel. She noted that the multi-hotel agreement reflects the growing opportunity for the Ginger brand across diverse travel circuits, including commercial centres, pilgrimage destinations, and leisure hubs.
The partnership has already taken shape with the launch of a 59-key Ginger hotel in Gurugram’s Palam Vihar area, marking the first opening under the agreement.
Vasudev Rakesh Garg, Director at Rajdarbar Group, said the company sees strong potential in Tier-2 cities across North India. He added that partnering with IHCL’s reimagined Ginger brand aligns with Rajdarbar Group’s strategy to bring quality midscale hospitality to high-growth markets.
IHCL, India’s largest hospitality company, continues to scale its Ginger brand as part of its broader strategy to deepen its footprint in the midscale segment nationwide.
