Amazon India Strengthens Healthcare Support for Delivery Workforce
Under the revised plan, mediclaim coverage has been enhanced up to Rs 1.5 lakh, OPD expenses up to Rs 10,000 will now be covered, while group personal accident insurance has been increased to Rs 10 lakh.

As part of its Rs 2,800 crore investment towards strengthening operations infrastructure, Amazon India has upgraded medical, accident and outpatient healthcare benefits for nearly 90,000 delivery associates across its India network.

The expanded coverage includes outpatient department (OPD) support for routine medical expenses, hospitalisation assistance for inpatient treatment, and compensation for temporary as well as permanent disabilities, helping address both healthcare costs and income loss arising from injuries. The company said these benefits will be extended across all last-mile delivery programmes. Under the revised plan, mediclaim coverage has been enhanced up to Rs 1.5 lakh, OPD expenses up to Rs 10,000 will now be covered, while group personal accident insurance has been increased to Rs 10 lakh.

“We are also rolling out nationwide health camps offering free check-ups and preventive care,” said Salim Memon, Director – Operations, Amazon India. “These initiatives are part of our recent Rs 2,800 crore investment to further strengthen associate well-being and scale our operations infrastructure across the country.”

Under the expanded programme, delivery associates and up to three family members will receive annual wellness support that includes unlimited multilingual virtual consultations with doctors and two complimentary in-person OPD visits for each family every year. The initiative further offers discounts on diagnostic tests, medicines, dental and vision care, along with access to preventive healthcare and fitness-focused tools.

To strengthen healthcare accessibility, Amazon India has partnered with a third-party insurer to conduct health camps across the country, enabling tens of thousands of delivery associates to undergo free medical check-ups. These camps offer services such as eye and dental screenings, BMI evaluations and consultations with general physicians. Associates can avail the facilities by presenting a government-issued identity proof at camps organised at Amazon’s last-mile delivery stations nationwide.

Introduced in March this year, the health camp initiative has already been rolled out across delivery stations in six cities and will continue expanding across metro and tier-II locations. The camps are aimed at promoting preventive healthcare and identifying heat-related health risks among delivery associates.
