How Franchising is Powering Raisin’s Modern Indianwear Expansion
Fuelled by consumer empathy, thoughtful design, and a long-term vision for sustainable scale, Isha Pacheriwal is steering Raisin into its next phase of growth, driven by omni channel expansion and a franchise-forward retail playbook.

As the Co-Founder of Raisin, Isha Pacheriwal has built a brand that speaks to the evolving identity of the modern Indian woman, one who values effortless elegance over extravagance and individuality over imitation. Under her leadership, Raisin bridges the gap between ornate ethnic wear and trend-driven fast fashion, offering clothing that feels elevated yet easy, luxurious yet wearable.

What core strategic insight led to creating Raisin, and where do you see the brand positioned in India’s evolving women’s fashion market?

When we started Raisin in 2018, the insight was simple: Indian women were choosing between heavily ornate ethnicwear they couldn’t wear often, and fast fashion that lacked cultural warmth. We wanted to create clothing that felt festive yet effortless, premium without being overwhelming.

Raisin was built on the belief that fashion should feel inclusive, comfortable, and adaptable to real Indian lifestyles. Today, we stand at the intersection of comfort, culture, and contemporary design. More than an ethnicwear label, Raisin represents a lifestyle where women can express themselves with ease and confidence.

How do you define Raisin’s value proposition versus legacy ethnicwear and emerging D2C brands?

Legacy brands anchor on tradition. D2C brands often chase trends. We chose relevance. Our promise is “dressed-up without trying too hard.”Premium fabrics, refined silhouettes, thoughtful detailing — but always wearable. We call this modern Indian minimalism. Raisin makes women feel aspirational yet relatable, confident yet comfortable.

Could you outline Raisin’s growth journey in scale and channels?

We’ve grown steadily and strategically. From a small collection in 2018, we now retail across:

  • 250+ MBOs (multi-brand outlets)
  • Multiple exclusive brand outlets
  • Strong presence on marketplaces and our D2C platform

Offline contributes to70%, while D2C + marketplaces contribute to 30%, with the fastest acceleration on our own site (3× YoY growth).
We now serve 4+ lakh customers, with a rising repeat purchase rate.

What does the next 3-year growth roadmap look like?

The next phase is scale with substance.

  • Expand to 500+ MBOs and 20+ EBOs across Tier 1 and Tier 2 markets by FY28.
  • Strengthen D2C with storytelling-led content and tech-enabled personalization.
  • Build seasonal design stories (e.g., SS’25 Rishikesh, Festive’25 Colors of India, Wedding’25 Modern Heirlooms).
  • Begin selective international market entry, starting with the Middle East.

 Why a franchise-led expansion model?

As we grew, we recognized the strength of local entrepreneurship. Fashion retail thrives on community, relationships, and cultural nuance — and franchise partners bring that with depth and authenticity. Our model is not just commercial; it is collaborative and partnership-driven.

Priority markets for FY26–27?

Strong traction in Delhi NCR, Jaipur, Lucknow, Surat, Pune, Ahmedabad.
Focus will deepen in Tier 2 & 3 cities, where aspiration meets accessibility — a space where Raisin is naturally strong.

How do you  Balance profitability with expansion?

Growth is meaningful only if it is sustainable. We prioritize margin discipline, smart scaling, and brand equity, not discount-led volume.

Are you exploring investment or global entry?

Yes — but selectively. We are in early conversations with capability-aligned partners, not just capital providers. Pilot exports to UAE & Southeast Asia are underway.

What is your Leadership & Culture Philosophy?

Clarity over control. Empathy over ego. We give our teams freedom with accountability and value learning over perfection.

What is your vision for 2030.

By 2030, Raisin will stand among India’s most trusted contemporary ethnicwear brands with a strong global footprint, representing a modern India that is confident, cultured, and effortless.
